Honda Accord Coupe Chop

Found this in my e-mail inbox. Hardly what I think will be the new Accord. Just look at all the black marks everywhere! (Maybe it's the artist's interpretation of what he wants to be changed in the 2008 Accord vs. the Accord Concept).

Detroit Auto Show- Part 24 (The End...or maybe not)

We're not done about the Detroit Auto Show or the Chinese invasion, yet. CHAMCO from China recently displayed its SUV and Pickup truck models at a tiny corner at the NAIAS. The SUV is slated to sell for less than $14 000 US when released later this year. The truck is slated to sell for just a little more than $13 000 US when released in mid-2008. However CHAMCO is not the company that builds these car, it's Hebei Zhongxing. The problem now is how consumers will react to these cheap, 80s or 90s technology/styling/engine. Long-term reliability is a huge problem for these cheap autos.

Spied! 2008 Honda Fit

New future Fit/Jazz spotted in the UK! It now seems that the new model now has a diesel engine and a much bigger interior with a new dashboard. You may think that this is the next Fit/Jazz but it isn't. It's only a new platform on the current model which is called a mule. Anyways, the Fit is going to the Civic leagues sooner than you think.

New Honda Accord Coupe Concept...safe to say that at least 93% of this car will carry over to the production model. Better yet, there's an i-VTEC V6 engine possibly from the MDX/TL and will have Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) to shut down half of the 6 cylinders.

2008 Chevrolet Malibu- All-new redesigned vehicles with a new 3.5 V6 from the Saturn Aura.

2008 Chevrolet Volt Concept: This hybrid has a 161 hp electric motor and a 16 kWh lithium-ion storage pack. The Eco-tec turbocharged gasoline engine makes 71 hp with 3 cylinders and it spins the 53 kW generator which is one way to charge the pack. The other way is to charge using plugs. Six hours of charging is about 40 miles of travel in the Volt. Note: This is a CONCEPT only!

2008 Chrysler Town & Country/Dodge Caravan: All-new minivans with available swivel seats w/ table and Stow-n'-Go seats but not both. New 4.0 V6 engine but same 3.3 V6 engine and 3.8 V6 engine.

2008 Mazda Tribute Hybrid: Just a slight re-make but not a redesign of the Mazda Tribute with a hybrid! The 2.3 Litre 4 Cylinder makes 133 hp by the Atkinson-cycle combustion and is joined by a 70 kW electric motor making 94 hp. Regenerative braking, stop-start system and a CVT are in this hybrid.

Honda Flexible-Fuel System Vehicles for Brazil

These FFV vehicles can operate on 100% ethanol or a wide range of ethanol-gasoline fuel mixtures. Honda only plans to sell these in Brazil where bio-ethanol has jumped popularity.

Back to Hybrids!

A few months ago, I posted a post about the some of the future hybrids, Honda would produce. But now some of the Hybrids are being cancelled but revived, then cancelled.

New Honda Accord Hybrid: The redesign of the current Accord will be on sale by 2007/08, however the Hybrid should arrive by 2009.

Civic Hybrid: A refresh in 2009.

CR-V Hybrid: It is safe to say that expect a CR-V Hybrid in 2009. But there are consistent rumours touting the release of the Hybrid. This rumours has been through cancellation, then reviving then cancelled. But a Honda spokesperson did tell me that the CR-V Hybrid is in works and there would be a surprise.

Fit Hybrid: This plan has been cancelled.

"No Name" Hybrid: From the ground-up designed new Honda hybrid to be produced in Japan and possibly on sale by 2009/10.

Truck Hybrids??? (Element, Pilot, Ridgeline or Odyssey Hybrid?): Don't expect any Honda truck to have a hybrid but at least a V6 Diesel.

WOW! If everything I said in this post were to be true, Honda would have 4 new or refreshed hybrids on sale by 2010.
